OnePlus 9 vs Samsung Galaxy S21: Design & colors

Let’s start with the design at first, well The Samsung Galaxy S21 had an interesting design direction. The S21 series was introduced with a camera bump design on the back. Along with that, it came with some interesting color options such as Phantom Violet, Phantom Pink, Phantom White, and Phantom Grey.

Along with that, on the front side, it came with a 6.2-inch AMOLED display with a centered punch-hole for the selfie camera and razor-thin bezels.

On the other hand, talking about the OnePlus 9 well, the company did not change the design much in comparison to the OnePlus 8T. As a result, both the OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 9 looks pretty much the same. Like, you are getting left side punch hole camera and a flat-screen.

On the rear panel, the device has a slight curve for a comfortable hold. Also, for the colors, it has Astral Black, Arctic Sky, and Winter Mist.

While in terms of designs and colors, there are not too many differences to mention. But yes, The S21 has a plastic back, while the OnePlus 9 comes with a glass back.

OnePlus 9 vs. Galaxy S21: Display

When it comes to the display, both of the devices come with a 120Hz display refresh rate. However, the OnePlus 9 has a 6.55-inch display, while the S21 has a 6.2-inch display.

The Galaxy S21 has an FHD+ resolution, which means it comes with a 1080 x 2400 resolution. And the same resolution goes for the OnePlus 9. But yes, it has a slightly bigger screen compared to S21. Both devices offer a 120 Hz of refresh rate but on the OnePlus9 it varies from 1 to 120 Hz and you can restrict it.

However, it is said that the Galaxy should offer you a crisper image and get brighter as it has 1300 nits of peak brightness as compare to 1100 nits OnePlus9. As it comes with a higher pixel density compared to the OnePlus 9. But the difference is only about a few pixels, so you will not really get to see it with your naked eye.

OnePlus 9 vs. Galaxy S21: Hardware and Performance

The Galaxy S21 comes with the powerful Snapdragon 888 flagship chip in the United States. But in other countries and regions like Europe, it features Samsung’s own Exynos 2100 chip.

The OnePlus 9 is also powered with the same Snapdragon 888 chip. So when it comes to performance, both of the devices should run at a flagship level, and there shouldn’t be any doubt about it.

But we all know, OnePlus is always has an edge for delivering a smooth performance. So we are going to see the same with the OnePlus 9. Also, you should know the OnePlus devices are known to run fast and smooth even after years of usage. But other Android devices get relatively slow.

As far as the Android OS is considered, the OnePlus 9 comes with Oxygen OS 11 on top of Android 11. It should offer you a smooth feel. Plus, it comes with auto dark mode. As a result, it will be a pleasure for you to use. Also, the gesture navigation on the OnePlus 9 doesn’t lag.

In addition to that, you are getting lots of customization options, and it comes with the new Turbo Boost 3.0 memory optimization.

Moreover, if you like mobile gaming, then it comes with a Pro Gaming Mode that optimizes the CPU and GPU for gaming. Also, it blocks distractions on your device.

Talking about S21, well, it comes with the One UI 3.1 and Android 11. As a result, you will get introduced to revamped notifications and loads of customization options hidden in the Advanced Settings.

Along with that, you are getting enhanced lock-screen widgets and digital wellbeing applications to help you monitor your smartphone use.

But if you compare both of them, then the OxygenOS and One UI both run pretty smooth and fast and something that expects from flagship devices.

Galaxy s21 vs. OnePlus 9 Camera

OnePlus 9 vs Samsung Galaxy S21: Cameras

On both of the devices, you are getting a triple camera setup. However, there is a difference in the camera features.

OnePlus is known for not investing much in the camera department. But with the OnePlus 9, the company has finally made some changes. As the company did partner with Hasselblad to offer several improvements in the camera department.

However, as far as the specs are considered, the Galaxy S21 comes with a triple camera system that features a 12MP main sensor. Along with that, you are getting a 64MP zoom camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera.

The photo quality of the device is also top-notch. The images have a great dynamic range, sharp details, true to life colors. So you can be assured that you will be able to click great features.

However, when it comes to OnePlus, the company’s partnership with Hasselblad is the focus of this year’s flagship models.

The OnePlus 9 is offering natural color calibration with Hasselblad. So you can enjoy realistic and colorful photographs. As far as the specs are considered, it features a 48MP main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide camera with a large Sony IMX766 sensor. Also, there is a third sensor that is a monochrome camera.

Also, the OnePlus 9 camera comes with an improved macro mode. As a result, you will be able to click stunning photos.

Closing Words:

If you compare both of the devices, both the devices are super fast with SD888, the best displays in the segment, clean UI. Only one this which isn’t the same, the camera system. The Samsung Galaxy S21 performs way better in most cases, however, Oneplus got the best ultrawide snaps, their macro lens is useless.

But if you want a better-charging speed, and overall fast-performing device all-day usage I suggest you should go with the OnePlus 9 Pro as a daily driver. On the other hand, S21 is more preferable to people who want a premium Android flagship.
